    Content Removal & DMCA Policy

    iFANN ("the Service", operated at ifann.net) catalogues public figures, works, and events for news, commentary, and reference purposes. We respect intellectual-property rights, personality rights, and the accuracy of the information we publish. If you believe content on iFANN infringes your rights, misuses your name or likeness, or contains a factual error about you, you can ask us to remove or correct it using the processes below. We review every good-faith request.

    Which request type applies?

    • Copyright: a photo, video, or text you own the copyright to is being hosted or displayed. Use the DMCA notice process.
    • Name, image & likeness / profile removal: you are (or represent) a public figure and want your profile, image, or likeness removed or corrected. Use the publicity & profile process.
    • Inaccurate or defamatory information: a stated fact about you is wrong or misleading. Use the correction process.

    1. Copyright complaints (DMCA)

    iFANN complies with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512). If you are a copyright owner, or authorized to act on one's behalf, and believe material on the Service infringes your copyright, send a written notice to our Designated Agent that includes all of the following:

    1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on their behalf.
    2. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed (or a representative list, if multiple works).
    3. Identification of the infringing material and information reasonably sufficient to let us locate it: ideally the exact URL(s) on ifann.net.
    4. Your contact information: name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
    5. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
    6. A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on their behalf.

    On receipt of a valid notice, we will remove or disable access to the material expeditiously and make a reasonable effort to notify the user who posted it.

    Please note that under § 512(f) you may be liable for damages, including costs and attorneys' fees, if you knowingly materially misrepresent that material is infringing.

    Email is the fastest channel. Put DMCA notice in the subject line and attach or include the signed notice. We preserve notices and related records as reasonably necessary to process the claim, prevent abuse, enforce our repeat-infringer policy, and comply with law. We will only act on notices that contain all six elements listed above.

    2. Counter-notification

    If your material was removed and you believe it was removed by mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice to the Designated Agent containing:

    1. Your physical or electronic signature.
    2. Identification of the material that was removed and the location at which it appeared before removal.
    3. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
    4. Your name, mailing address, and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address (or, if outside the U.S., the district where iFANN may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the complaining party.

    If we receive a valid counter-notice, we may restore the material in 10-14 business days unless the original complainant notifies us that they have filed a court action.

    3. Name, image & likeness / profile removal

    iFANN profiles public figures for news, commentary, and reference, which is generally protected expression. Even so, if you are the subject (or an authorized representative) and want a profile, image, or other content removed, email us at [email protected] with:

    • The full name of the subject and the URL(s) of the content in question.
    • What you are asking us to do: remove, correct, or claim/manage the profile.
    • Verification that you are the subject or are authorized to act on their behalf (e.g. official representation, management, or verifiable contact through an official channel).

    We review these requests in good faith and will remove content that we are not entitled to display, that implies an endorsement or affiliation that does not exist, or that the subject reasonably objects to where no overriding public interest applies.

    4. Factual corrections

    Some reference content on iFANN is compiled with the assistance of automated tools and may contain errors. If a stated fact about you or a subject you represent is inaccurate, email [email protected] with the URL, the specific statement that is wrong, and the correct information (a source helps us act faster). We will correct or remove confirmed inaccuracies promptly.

    5. Repeat infringers

    In accordance with the DMCA, iFANN maintains and reasonably implements a policy of terminating, in appropriate circumstances, accounts of users determined to be repeat infringers. We consider valid notices, counter-notices, retractions, court outcomes, the user's history, and apparent abuse of the process rather than treating every allegation as a final determination.

    6. Response time

    We aim to acknowledge valid requests within a few business days and to act on confirmed requests promptly thereafter. Submitting a request does not guarantee a particular outcome; we evaluate each request on its merits and under applicable law.

    7. Reports from within iFANN

    Users may also report a post, comment, video, profile, thread, or message from its report menu. In-product reports are appropriate for urgent safety and Community Guidelines issues. Copyright owners should still email a complete DMCA notice to [email protected] so we receive the legally required information. Users affected by a moderation decision may appeal by replying to the notice or emailing the same address with the content URL and relevant context.
