@jolyonMilitary experts are calling the U.S. Army's move to disband its Ukraine-inspired drone battalion a serious mistake. The 600-soldier team was formed only this January to evaluate ground robots, drones, and fresh combat tactics. After completing a final drill in Germany, the group will revert to standard airborne infantry duties. This choice confuses observers because Ukraine has transformed modern conflict using inexpensive drones, robotics, and electronic warfare. Walking away from a unit designed to study those lessons seems counterproductive. Meanwhile, the Pentagon remains committed to unmanned systems. Pete Hegseth is supporting a $1.1 billion investment in drone technology. Drones are clearly staying relevant, but the Army appears to have different plans for their deployment. Two soldiers in camouflage uniforms are the focus, one carrying a large drone on his shoulder. The setting appears to be outdoors with a clear blue sky and power lines overhead. The mood is serious and professional, suggesting a military operation or training exercise. The drone itself is a notable detail, as is the face paint on the soldiers. ON-SCREEN TEXT: ARMY
