Devighat Nepal cable crossing after floods

@felix_pThe Trishuli River at Devighat, Nepal was never something people thought about much. You crossed it. That was it. Floods came through and took the bridges out, chewed up the roads along the water, and suddenly the most basic thing in the world, getting to the other side, stopped being basic. What's there now is a cable system, newly installed, with a small suspended carriage that carries residents over the river. Photos of it look like something out of a dream, or maybe a movie. For the people riding it, there's nothing dreamlike happening. They're going to work. Picking up food. Seeing family. Coming back to the place they belong to. That's the part of a disaster that doesn't make the headlines, I think. Homes and roads and bridges get counted. What doesn't get counted is how completely it wrecks the ordinary rhythm of a day, the small stuff you never notice until it's gone, and how people end up inventing these wild solutions just to keep living the way they always did. Nobody asked for a cable over a river. They asked for their routine back. So a thin line now runs across the water, moving people between two halves of a community the flood almost cut in two for good. It's fragile. It's temporary. It's not a real bridge, not close. But it does the one thing that matters right now, which is put those lives back in touch with each other

The image focuses on the aftermath of a disaster, showing a destroyed building with exposed brick and concrete. A small, red gondola hangs suspended on a wire in the distance, moving across a foggy, desolate landscape. The mood is somber and bleak, with debris scattered across the ground and thick fog obscuring the background. The foreground is dominated by tangled, dark roots or vines, adding to the sense of decay and ruin.
