Dimitri Payet opened up about his journey to the top. He revealed that in 2016, while he was dominating the Premier League with West Ham, he had actually been told as a child that he would never become a professional and was kicked out of the academy. At one point, to make ends meet, he worked as a sales assistant in a clothing store, stocking shelves and organizing displays. He reflected on those impossible free kicks he scored on the pitch, which you can see in the linked clip:
