Claudio Pizarro was 30 and on loan at Werder Bremen when he trained with a 17- or 18-year-old Mesut Özil and Sebastian Boenisch. His family stayed in London, so he hung out with the young duo and they became tight. He promised them watches if they won a trophy, they took the German Cup and German Super Cup that season, so he had to pay up.
