A government stepping into club football rules is not something you see every day. The Mexican Government reportedly pushed for ASCENSO Y DESCENSO to make its way back into Liga MX, and this all played out across 2026. I keep turning that over. Promotion and relegation is the baseline of how a competitive league is supposed to work, so needing politicians to fight for it is genuinely unheard of. Maybe that is why I am not fully pessimistic. For Mexican football, the fight to bring it back is not over yet, and it can still be won. 🇲🇽⚽️
