So the whole planet cracked out about 100 million tonnes of eggs in 2024, per FAO figures, and hen eggs did almost all of that heavy lifting at roughly 94% of the total. Eggs themselves are an animal-resource product, and they feed into food security, nutrition, poultry-sector incomes and agricultural value chains. Wild stuff when you zoom out.
