Marie Curie Nobel Prize history

    yazan Sur: Marie Curie

Marie Skłodowska Curie ended up with Nobel Prizes in two different scientific fields, a record that still stands. But the 1903 Physics prize, awarded for radiation research alongside Pierre Curie and Henri Becquerel, almost didn't include her. Her name was left off the initial nominations even though she did the core work. Pierre pushed back, telling the committee the discovery wouldn't exist without his wife. They revised the decision that same year, making her the first woman ever honored with a Nobel. Then in 1911 she won again, this time in chemistry, and remains the only person to pull that off in two distinct sciences.
