Opalite

January 12, 2026 marked the arrival of "Opalite," the second single from Taylor Swift's twelfth studio album The Life of a Showgirl. The track arrived via Republic Records as an upbeat blend of pop rock and synth-pop. Swift co-wrote and produced the song alongside Max Martin and Shellback, crafting a sonic landscape that critics immediately identified as a return to her most joyful era.

The title refers to opalite, a man-made glass infused with an iridescent glow that does not exist in nature. Swift used this metaphor to argue that happiness is something you create rather than wait for. Lyrically, the song contrasts dark onyx nights with a bright sky, narrating a journey toward stability after a series of disappointing relationships.

Listeners noted the chorus features a three-note progression echoing the Ronettes' 1963 hit "Be My Baby." Critics drew comparisons to ABBA and Fleetwood Mac for the track's sunny energy. Rolling Stone described the song as the most purely joyful recording Swift has ever made. Commercially, the single debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 before climbing to No. 1 following the music video release on February 6, 2026. [düzenle]
