Shiori Experience

Shiori Honda wakes up one morning as a 27-year-old high school English teacher burdened by a crushing debt of 20 million yen left behind when her brother ran away. Her life is a monotonous loop of paying off loans until the ghost of rock legend Jimi Hendrix materializes in her bedroom. This eccentric spirit, who calls himself "Hen na Oji-san" or Weird Uncle, forces Shiori to pick up a guitar and confront the musical dreams she abandoned years ago.

The story unfolds as a unique blend of slice-of-life drama and supernatural comedy within Square Enix's Monthly Big Gangan. Unlike typical music manga where protagonists master their instruments overnight, Shiori struggles with real physical barriers like calluses, stiff fingers, and crippling stage fright. Her journey involves forming a band with classmates while navigating the absurdity of having a deceased icon nagging her through every practice session.

Critics and readers praise the series for its authentic depiction of adult regret and redemption. The narrative balances the humor of a pushy ghost mentor with serious emotional beats as Shiori heals from past trauma. While Kurt Cobain appears later to offer his own brand of guidance, the core focus remains on Shiori finding her voice at an age when most people have already settled into their routines. [düzenle]
